Space Education 2.0

In the future, Andøya will be a key location for space activities in Europe due to the new spaceport. “Space Education 2.0” is looking at how the new spaceport at Andøya can open new opportunities for higher education in Norway and Europe.

Trends in Norway shows that the space business is growing and demanding more workforce in the coming years. The new spaceport at Andøya is also opening new opportunities for European space industry.

The project “Space Education 2.0” is currently looking into how the new spaceport at Andøya can open new opportunities for higher education in Norway and Europe. What new facilities and programs can complement those existing already in the universities and partners?

A preliminary project run from June 2020 to June 2021 clearly stated that there is a high interest in increasing higher space educational activity using the infrastructure at Andøya Space in connection with the space industry. Simultaneously, several universities in Norway are looking into how to adjust to new space education programs.

Space Education 2.0 has identified four main areas where we will focus our efforts: Access to space, Norwegian space academy, Training and test program for students, and Student interaction.

The project is funded by SAMSKAP, Andøya Space Education and the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research.

The steering committee consists of representatives from EIDEL, NTNU, UiT, UiO, Norwegian Space Agency and Andøya Spaceport.

Collaboration with student organisations: Orbit NTNU, Portal Space and Propulse NTNU.
