SAREPTA - Using Space in Education
SAREPTA is a space-related website for students and teachers in upper primary and secondary schools. SAREPTA offers resources for project tasks on weather and climate, ice in the Arctic, studies of ocean currents, Sun-Earth interaction, satellite navigation and satellite communication, as well as information on rockets, the International Space Station and space shuttles.
The SAREPTA website ( http://www.sarepta.org/) is a unique source and electronic meeting place for students and teachers at upper primary and secondary schools for use in geography and science lessons. The basic version of the resource has been used since 1997, but during the year 2002 the website was considerable extended.

SAREPTA offers up-to-date satellite images, relevant information, educational examples, software, glossary and relevant links. SAREPTA provides an increasing amount of teaching material and exercises into different themes such as: the Sun, Physics of space plasma, Our neigbour planet Venus, Exploring the planet Mars, In Saturn´s orbit, Satellites in orbit, Space probes and manned spacecrafts, The Earth seen from satellites, Satellites monitor the Earth and Earth Observation and GIS.
The website has available a lot of curriculum based teaching resources for science and geography classes in European upper primary and secondary schools. The resources are presented into different main themes with case studies including background information and exercises.
The satellite images in the SAREPTA Image Bank are freely available for education purposes, but users need to register.
SAREPTA has been developed in Norwegian and English by the Norwegian Space Centre and NAROM in co-operation with the Tromsø Satellite Station (TSS) and with support of ESA and the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research.
